Abu Alba: Jordanian women’s participation in parties enhances their status by reaching leadership ranks and making decisions



The Jordanian Masarat Foundation for Development and Progress held a dialogue session as part of a series of training sessions aimed at training academics from various universities within the framework of a project to prepare them for political party work. This project is implemented by the foundation in collaboration with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development.

During the session held on Saturday, Abla Abu Al-Oba, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Democratic People's Party, spoke about the necessity of women’s participation in political and party life and the importance of staying informed about all matters that can enhance their involvement and contributions.

In her address, she discussed the political and party life in Jordan since the establishment of the state up to the present day, as well as the challenges women face in enhancing their political and party participation.

She also listened to questions and views from the participating academics regarding their political and party involvement, as well as the pressures they face, which might prevent or limit their participation.

Abu Al-Oba emphasized the importance of women participating in political parties, whether as members or supporters, to enhance the position of Jordanian women and empower them to reach leadership positions and decision-making roles.
