Masarat Jordan, in collaboration with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, organizes a training workshop on encouraging women's participation in political activity at Al-Balqa Applied University

Al-Bdour: National political parties help build national consensus through dialogue and negotiation among various political and societal forces.

Al-Ajlouni: Al-Balqa Applied University is committed to providing all necessary support to youth and women to participate in political and partisan life, in line with the national vision for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.

Ghneimat: Participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections will play a decisive and pivotal role in forming a strong parliament capable of addressing challenges.

As part of its collaborative programs with various institutions and organizations, Al-Balqa Applied University, through its Career Development Center, organized a workshop in cooperation with Masarat Jordan Foundation for Development and Progress and the King Abdullah II Fund for Development. The workshop, titled "Encouraging Women's Participation in Political Activity," is part of the "Training Academic Women in Political Work in Universities" project implemented by Masarat in partnership with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development.

The President of Al-Balqa Applied University, Professor Ahmad Fakhry Al-Ajlouni, welcomed esteemed guests, including Senator Dr. Ibrahim Al-Bdour, Masarat Jordan's Executive Director Talal Ghneimat, and Member of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate Khaled Al-Qudah. The meeting was attended by the Vice President for Colleges Affairs, Professor Zakaria Al-Qudah, Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Khaled Al-Zoubi, and the Director of the Career Development Center, Dr. Khalaf Khitaneh.

In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Al-Ajlouni highlighted the university’s commitment to implementing royal visions for advancing higher education and political life. He emphasized the significant role universities play as hubs of educated youth and as key pillars of society. He stated that the university administration encourages students to engage in political work and join national political parties. The university has hosted numerous prominent figures and members of the Royal Committee for Political System Modernization to inspire students to participate in political life and contribute to building a stronger Jordan envisioned by His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Dr. Al-Ajlouni reiterated the university’s dedication to providing all necessary support to youth and women to engage in political and partisan life, emphasizing this as a critical step toward achieving social and political balance within society.

Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Khaled Al-Zoubi, noted the national responsibility of participating actively in elections and selecting candidates based on viable national programs. He expressed gratitude to the guest speakers, Senator Al-Bdour, Ghneimat, and Al-Qudah, for their efforts in fostering ties between the university and the community.

Senator Al-Bdour praised Al-Balqa Applied University for its dedication to organizing lectures, seminars, and workshops that enhance collaboration and exchange of ideas among educational institutions. He stressed the critical role political parties play in fostering democracy through parliamentary elections and shaping public policies. He also highlighted the importance of national consensus through dialogue and negotiation among various societal forces, which strengthens national unity and political stability.

Ghneimat emphasized the importance of voter participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections, describing it as crucial for forming a strong parliament capable of addressing Jordan’s challenges. He pointed out that, despite public dissatisfaction with some previous parliamentary performances, Jordan is experiencing a new political reform project that strengthens the participation of women and youth in political and electoral life. He noted that youth play a vital role in the success of this political reform initiative.

The two-day training workshop included programs conducted by Member of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate, Khaled Al-Qudah. The programs covered several topics, including women's democratic and political participation, the concept and structure of political parties, the historical context of Jordanian women's political and partisan participation, and political modernization in Jordan. Additionally, the workshop reviewed the new Election Law and the amended Political Parties Law of 2022.
