“Masarat” launches media and information education courses
Jordanian Masarat for Development and Progress launched training sessions within the Media and Information Literacy Project, in partnership with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, to empower young people (aged 18 to 25 years) to properly deal with the media environment and social media platforms and applications. The courses, which were launched at the end of last month in the We Are All Jordan Youth Authority in Balqa Governorate, and will later extend to include all governorates of the Kingdom, address many topics that focus on understanding contemporary media, dealing with multiple sources of information, and types of media content, in addition to focusing on the skills of understanding and evaluating content. The courses also focus on understanding the world of advertising, learning about political propaganda and its relationship to extremism, enhancing the concept of digital citizenship, and the rules for verifying information and news, as well as how to deal with false and misleading news, rumours, and dealing with violent expression and hate speech on social media. It is noteworthy that "Jordanian Paths for Development and Development” is a non-profit civil society organization, founded in 2021, and specializes in issues of enhancing women’s presence in the public space and empowering them politically and economically, supporting and stimulating youth participation in political and development work, and developing and strengthening media capabilities to keep pace with developments. To be a tool for oversight and a way to achieve sustainable development and democracy. "Masarat” focuses on conducting studies and research related to the Jordanian scene as a whole, as well as conducting analytical readings of interest to decision-makers in various aspects of life, in addition to conducting analytical studies of the political and media scene and their content.
