Enhancing Sustainable Employment – Green Jobs – in Balqa, Salt, and Madaba: Opportunities and Challenges


 

Summary
In response to global sustainability challenges, there is increasing recognition of the potential for sustainable employment to drive economic growth and environmental restoration. This paper aims to explore the opportunities and challenges for developing sustainable employment in the regions of Balqa, Salt, and Madaba, which have unique economic and environmental landscapes. Through a detailed analysis of these areas, this study identifies key sectors such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and eco-tourism, which hold significant potential for job creation while addressing local environmental issues.

 

This research employs a comparative methodology, drawing lessons from similar studies conducted in Jerash and Ajloun to measure progress and obstacles. This comparative analysis not only highlights unique regional opportunities but also common barriers that may hinder the effective implementation of sustainable employment initiatives. Key challenges identified include legislative gaps, economic constraints, and the need to develop technical skills within the local workforce.

Strategic policy recommendations are proposed to support the sustainable growth of employment opportunities in Balqa, Salt, and Madaba. These include enhancing government support, fostering private sector engagement, and promoting community-based projects aligned with sustainable practices. The paper concludes by emphasizing the critical role of integrated efforts among various stakeholders to ensure the viability and sustainability of sustainable employment initiatives in these areas.
