A Session in Salt on Women's Participation in Political and Party Life
(Petra) - The Jordanian Masarat Foundation for Development and Progress held a discussion session today, Wednesday, in the city of Salt on the topic of "Women's Participation in Political and Party Life and Their Role in the Upcoming Parliamentary Elections." The session was part of the "Training Female Academics on Party Work in Universities" project, implemented by the foundation in collaboration with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development.
The session, moderated by Masarat's Executive Director Talal Ghoneimat, featured a discussion led by the Chair of the Administrative Committee in the Senate, Dr. Khaled Al-Bakar, and attended by a group of female leaders and party members from Salt. The discussion focused on the current state of political modernization in Jordan. Dr. Al-Bakar emphasized that His Majesty King Abdullah II has always been a pioneer in driving comprehensive modernization efforts. He highlighted the royal directives aimed at updating the entire political system, with one of the primary goals being the empowerment of the two largest societal groups—women and youth—to expand their participation in political life, secure seats in parliament, and take on leadership roles.
Dr. Al-Bakar noted that political parties are now preparing for the upcoming parliamentary elections, which will be their first experience following the enactment of the new election and party laws. Many parties have put forward electoral programs, and voters are encouraged to make their choices based on these programs and what best serves the country's interests, steering away from other considerations.
